Beste buurtgenoot,

 Bij een hartstilstand is een Automatische Externe Defibrillator (AED) van levensbelang. Een AED is een apparaat dat met een schok het hartritme kan herstellen. De overlevingskans is aanzienlijk groter als binnen zes minuten na een hartstilstand met reanimatie wordt gestart en er een AED wordt ingezet. 

Omdat in en rondom het hofje van de Jonkheer van Riemsdijklaan geen AED aanwezig is, wil ik een actie starten om daar verandering in te brengen. Je ontvangt deze oproep omdat je in een straal van honderd meter rondom de toekomstige BuurtAED woont.

Als 65 buren meedoen, is de prijs per persoon ongeveer 25 euro. 

 Wie kan de BuurtAED ontgrendelen en gebruiken? 

De BuurtAED wordt aangemeld bij reanimatieoproepsysteem HartslagNu, dat werkt via 112. Dat betekent dat burgerhulpverleners de AED bij een hartstilstand kunnen gebruiken. Zij zijn vaak eerder ter plaatse dan een ambulance en zo is de BuurtAED dag en nacht bereikbaar. Ik ben zelf ook burgerhulpverlener en bij HartslagNu aangesloten. Het zou mooi zijn als door deze actie meer buurtbewoners die EHBO-gecertificeerd zijn, zich ook aanmelden bij HartslagNu om buren te helpen. 

 Waar hangt de BuurtAED straks?

De BuurtAED komt aan de buitenmuur van huis: Jonkheer van Riemsdijklaan 82 of 84.

Per week krijgen driehonderd mensen in Nederland buiten het ziekenhuis een hartstilstand, vaak totaal onverwachts en vaak in of rondom hun huis. Met een BuurtAED maken we onze buurt hartveiliger!

Dear neighbor,

In the event of a cardiac arrest, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can be a lifesaver. An AED is a device that can restore the heart’s rhythm with an electric shock. The chances of survival are significantly higher if CPR is started, and an AED is used within six minutes of a cardiac arrest.

Since there is no AED available in or around the Jonkheer van Riemsdijklaan, I want to take action to change that. You are receiving this message because you live within a 100-meter radius of the future Community AED.

Community AED via the Heart Foundation

The Dutch Heart Foundation has launched an initiative to help residents easily acquire a community AED through crowdfunding. I have started a fundraising campaign on their website to purchase a Community AED package for € 1,595 (instead of the regular price of  € 3,145).

If 65 neighbours participate, the cost per person is only about €25.

Who can unlock and use the community AED?

The community AED will be registered with HartslagNu, the emergency response system linked to 112. This means trained citizen responders can use the AED in case of a cardiac arrest. They often arrive faster than an ambulance, making the AED available 24/7. I am a trained responder myself and registered with HartslagNu. It would be great if more neighbors with first aid certification also signed up to help others in case of an emergency.

Where will the community AED be installed?

The AED will be placed on the exterior wall of Jonkheer van Riemsdijklaan 82 or 84. .
